How to Extend the Windows 7 Activation Trial Period from 30 to 120 Days

There’s an easy way to stretch Windows 7′s 30-day free-trial period to 120 days so you can determine whether Microsoft’s new operating system meets your needs. It is not a hack, it is a system put in place by Microsoft to give you more time to evaluate it.Microsoft allows anyone to install and use any version of Windows 7 for 30 days without having to enter an activation key. There are no strings attached, and the operating system’s performance is not degraded or defaced during the trial.

Fortunately for us, the 30-day grace period can be extended up to three additional times — to a total of 120 days — using a Microsoft-supplied utility called the Software License Manager (slmgr). This tool conveniently ships with Windows 7.

3 (rearms) x 30 (days) = 90 (days extended) + 30 (default days) = 120 days total grace period.

How to extend Win7′s trial to a full four months

1. Open the Start Menu.

2. In the Start Menu search box, type regedit and press Enter.

3. In the registry editor, go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform

In the right pane, see if SkipRearm is set to 0 (number 0) . (see screenshot above)

If it is not set to 0 - Right click on SkipRearm and click on Modify. Type 0 and click on OK

If it is set to 0 - Skip this and go to step 4.

4. Close regedit.

5. Open a elevated command prompt.

6. In the elevated command prompt, type slmgr -rearm and press Enter. (see screenshot below)

7. If successful you will get the below screenshot. Click on OK. (see screenshot below)

8. Restart the computer to apply the changes and reset your trial period back to 30 days to activate.

So evaluate it for maximum before you decide to buy Windows 7.
That's it,
